Just in time for the start of early vote, check out our candidates guide on the Texas Governor and Lieutenant Governor candidates and their positions on immigration, jobs and wages, healthcare, and education.

Read our candidates guide here.

Our vote can be a shield against anti-immigrant legislation in the coming Texas legislative session. In 2011 Texas faced one of the harshest, most anti-immigrant legislative sessions we've seen in decades. Over 80 pieces of anti-immigrant proposals were introduced. Thanks to lots of organizing and many allies, we were able to beat back the attack, but just barely.

There is a lot at stake in these elections. Your vote will make a difference. Read our candidate guide and make your vote count. Then the 2012 elections came and changed the game. Because of the power of the Latino, Asian American and immigrant vote in 2012, legislators during the 2013 legislative session steered almost entirely clear of immigration issues.

Now they're watching our vote again.

Both political parties know that Latinos and immigrants are the future of their parties. They are calculating just how much they must change to accommodate us. How much we vote and how we vote will have a major impact on things like whether state leadership will support anti-immigrant legislation or will instead back in-state tuition for DREAMers or immigrant driver's licenses.

There is a lot at stake in these elections. Your vote will make a difference. Read our candidate guide and make your vote count.

We remind you that La Union del Pueblo Entero does not endorse or oppose any of the candidates for public office, and that candidates’ fitness for office should be judged on a variety of qualifications that go beyond the quotes and positions contained in this guide. What matters most is that our vote is counted in these elections.
