We would like to welcome, Eugene Delgado, LUPE’s new Immigration Attorney who will be defending undocumented inmigrants against family separations.
Eugene Delgado was born in Fresno, California to a family of migrant workers. He was raised in the Rio Grande Valley until he left to pursue his education at the University of Texas at Austin. After completing his undergraduate degree in Political Science, he attended Boston University School of Law, a top twenty law school in the country.
Upon graduating law school, Mr. Delgado joined Paul Weiss, a top ten national law firm, in New York City as a litigation attorney. Overall, he worked for over ten years in New York City covering a wide span of legal disciplines. In 2010, he joined Akin Gump, a top international law firm, as a litigation and arbitration lawyer in the United Arab Emirates.
Throughout his legal career, Mr. Delgado has always been assisting Latinos in their plight for justice, including representing thousands of workers from Mexico and Central America for unpaid wages. Upon returning to Texas in 2018, Mr. Delgado joined LUPE to provide legal and immigration advice. He is now focused on representing immigrants in deportation proceedings and other difficult immigration matters. He is looking forward to getting more involved in helping the community of the Rio Grande Valley.
“Given that I come from a family of migrant workers who were deeply involved in the Cesar Chavez movement, I have always fought against injustice, especially on behalf of the minorities and immigrants. Given the recent political developments in the country, and the current administration’s stance on immigration, I am proud to be part of LUPE as they provide an invaluable service to the immigrant community. And I’am also honored to educate, represent, and guide the immigrant community through the legal process in hopes of finding a legitimate option to immigrate to United States” said, Eugene Delgado.
With Mr. Delgado aboard, undocumented immigrants will have access to representation in removal proceedings including in hearings in front of an immigration judge in addition to legal services we provide to help undocumented members gain legal status when eligible. Mr. Delgado is admitted to practice law in New York, Massachusetts, and Texas.
