Video: Colonia resident works with refugees at South Texas border

On World Refugee Day, we celebrate the inspiring work of Emma Alaniz, who volunteers for LUPE as part of our humanitarian response effort. Emma's work includes collecting donations from the community and helping with children in the refugee centers.

Emma visited with WITNESS, who captured her story and inspiring work.

“Every time you see all the children's faces, I am seeing my people, my children, myself,” she told WITNESS. “Because they are us. Those children are us.”

Emma is one of many border residents who are demonstrating what it looks like to respond to humanitarian need with care, concern, and love.
