Join a virtual phone bank with Cristela this Tuesday

LUPE is happy to have Cristela Alonzo join our Get Out The Vote campaign this Tuesday, October 13th, at 2 pm. Cristela will host a special virtual phone bank and Early Vote kick off with LUPE volunteers.

In pop culture, Cristela Alonzo is the Rio Grande Valley's biggest booster.

The Cars 3 star made TV history as the first Latina to create, produce and star in a network TV sitcom, “Cristela.”

Before that, she and her family lived as squatters in an abandoned diner in San Juan, Texas.

“My family didn't have money, and I think it made me fearless,” she says. “I'm willing to try everything and not be afraid because what's the worst that can happen? It might not work out, but I can't be worse off than when I was a kid.”

That's the kind of “Sí Se Puede” energy we are bringing to this Tuesday's virtual phone bank with Cristela.

Like Cristela, LUPE members are fearless champions for the Rio Grande Valley’s ability to decide how we live and thrive. For the past month, LUPE has called nearly 15,000 high potential voters and texted over 50,000 more across the Rio Grande Valley. From informing people on their polling locations to how to request a mail ballot, LUPE will continue to work until November 3rd helping voters participate in this election.

Also on Tuesday, LUPE volunteers will be poll monitoring in selected polling locations across Hidalgo County to help guarantee the integrity of the election. As poll monitors, they will look out for any voter intimidation or any other electioneering rules that are being broken.
