HAVE QUESTIONS? WE CAN HELP!
When the County Voter Registrars cannot verify a voter’s address, they are placed on the suspense list. This can happen if election mail is returned as “non-deliverable” or if officials receive information that a voter may have moved.
Being on the suspense list DOES NOT mean your voter registration has been voided or that you have been removed from the State Voter Roll. However, it is important that you take a few steps to make sure you don’t run into any issues when voting this November.
The fastest way to check is to use the official state voter portal website or visit www.lupenet.org/voter.

Enter your information.
If you are a registered voter, you will see a table with all relevant information about your registration. In the Voter Status box, you will see either "ACTIVE" or "SUSPENSE".
If your Voter Status says ACTIVE, you are ready to vote this November!
If you cannot find yourself on the website and you would like to confirm your registration, you can call your county voter registrar's office or go in person to verify your status. Call these numbers:
Hidalgo Elections Department - (956) 318-2570
Cameron Elections Department - (956) 544-0809
Starr Elections Department - (956) 716-4800
If your Voter Status says SUSPENSE, then...
You have a few options:
b) Fill out a new voter registration application using the "Change of Address, Name, or Other Information" box at the top.
c) At a polling location, fill out an address confirmation form when verifying your voter registration with a poll worker.*
a) Update the address on your registration online at WWW.LUPENET.ORG/UPDATE.
*THIS OPTION IS NOT AVAILABLE ON ELECTION DAY IF YOU HAVE MOVED TO A DIFFERENT COUNTY.*
IT DEPENDS...
If you are voting in a county DIFFERENT than the one listed on your voter registration:
a) EARLY VOTE - You will only be able to vote using a limited ballot, which may include only state and federal races, but no local races.
b) ELECTION DAY - You will NOT be allowed to use a limited ballot and therefore will be ineligible to vote on that day.
If you are voting in the SAME county as the one listed on your voter registration:
a) For counties with Countywide polling - You can vote during early voting and Election Day by filling out a statement of residence form at the poll place to update your address.
b) If on Election Day, your county does not use Countywide Polling (Starr and Willacy), you may be asked to go to your assigned precinct to update your address and cast your ballot there
