Author, Emmy-winning journalist, and Latinx advocate
Join us at LUPE’s 7th Biennial Gala for an unforgettable evening with Paola Ramos as she inspires action and celebrates the strength of our communities.
Paola Ramos is a sought-after voice for her informative, relatable, and engaging discussions on Latinx identity, politics, and social justice. A dynamic storyteller, Ramos uses multimedia platforms—in both English and Spanish—to uplift marginalized communities, challenge stereotypes, and inspire civic engagement.
Ramos brings a wealth of experience from the frontlines of media and politics. She served as the Deputy Director of Hispanic Media for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Presidential Campaign, held a political appointment in the Obama Administration, and contributed to President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign. Today, she is a host for VICE News and a contributor for MSNBC and Telemundo, where she provides incisive analysis on today’s most pressing issues.
An influential speaker, Ramos has captivated audiences for organizations like Comcast, Planned Parenthood, UTA, Athena Health, Syracuse University, and Orrick. Her ability to connect with diverse crowds—whether dissecting headlines or exploring cultural shifts—has made her a standout voice in national conversations.
Ramos is the author of Finding Latinx: In Search of the Voices Redefining Latino Identity and Defectors, deeply reported works that examine the political and ideological diversity within Latinx communities. Her writing has been featured in Forbes, The Washington Post, The Cut, and Hola!, among others.
A Hauser Leader at Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership (where she earned her Master’s in Public Policy), Ramos also recently joined Barnard College’s Board of Trustees, furthering her commitment to education and leadership.

Julie Chávez Rodríguez is a political strategist and organizer known for her work advancing the rights of working people and building power within communities of color. Her leadership spans presidential campaigns, the White House, and the U.S. Senate.
She most recently served as Campaign Manager for the Biden-Harris 2024 re-election campaign. Before that, she was Senior Advisor to President Biden and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, acting as the primary liaison to state and local leaders across the country. She also served as Deputy Campaign Manager for the 2020 Biden-Harris campaign and as State Director for then-Senator Kamala Harris. Her career in public service began in the Obama Administration, focusing on public engagement and coalition building. Julie was recently named a Presidential Fellow at Chapman University in Southern California.
Prior to stepping into public service, Julie began her career in the Labor movement and non-profit sector, receiving first-hand organizing training on the front lines of the United Farm Workers industry-wide strawberry campaign in the late 1990s and later working as the Programs Director for the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation. As Program Director, Julie collaborated with the State of California, school districts across 10 States, and hundreds of colleges and universities to develop and implement service and educational programs that engaged young people in local community organizing efforts.
