LUPE Volunteer Poll Monitors Protect Voters Against Intimidation and Voter Suppression
On the last day of a historic Early Vote in the Rio Grande Valley, members and volunteers with La Unión del Pueblo Entero are stationed across the region's polling locations to monitor for voter intimidation and suppression.
LUPE knows that only people power can protect our vote. Poll monitoring ensures that everyone can vote without intimidation or illegal barriers. Our poll monitors offer a helpful hand to voters, ensure election rules are followed, and report when they are not.
We are excited to have so many youth poll monitors today! Youth are powerful and are driving Texas's historic turnout. But with youth claiming their power to decide their future, we know they won't stop with record turnout. On election night and beyond, youth will make sure our leaders #CountEveryVote!
[Tweet “Only people power can #ProtectOurVote. Combatting voter suppression in the Rio Grande Valley.”]We are doing this critical work with the Texas Election Protection Coalition.
LUPE will also be poll monitoring throughout the day on Election Day.

LUPE is organizing colonia residents, new Citizens, new voters, and other high-potential voters across South Texas to shift the balance of power this November. By showing up and voting, we win protections for DACA, defend our community from border walls, and open new avenues for investing in healthcare for all, streetlights and flooding protections, fair and just immigration processes, and dignified wages.
