The whole country is looking at South Texas Latino voters right now. With our nation at a crossroads, people are waiting to see how we will cast our ballots. Border voters are leading the charge right now to decide our future, and we can’t take that for granted.
Not while there are a handful of people in power who would rather see this Democracy in shambles instead of letting the vast majority of us live in peace. There’s a handful, or a few politicians with corporate friends who are playing an evil game: they use tactics of divide and distract to keep us from uniting and winning a better world for all of us. They come and take photos at our river and point fingers and families seeking safety and say “they’re the problem.” They wag their fingers at working families already living in the US and say “they’re the problem too.”
They’re hoping we don’t see what’s behind the curtain: that they try to shame and blame us, and then they exploit our divisions for their own gain.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. We don’t have to agree on every single detail under the Sun. But we should agree on some fundamental values: that every person is born deserving the right to thrive and the freedoms to live in dignity.
- That means we need to vote to protect ur freedoms:
- Higher wages to meet rising living costs
- Access to health care
- Immigration based on compassion and dignity
- The freedom to choose when and how we form our families
- And a Democracy that is fairly representative of all of us— no matter your background, zip code, age, or you’re brown, black, or white.
Dicen que la esperanza es lo ultimo que se muere. And it’s true— we wont give up hope!
