Relive the César Chávez March
“El Pueblo unido jamás será vencido”, where the words of encouragement hundredths of families from the Río Grande Valley shouted as they walked through the streets of Alamo, Texas, demanding for families to be together.
The 16th annual César Chávez March took place March 30, 2019 and the main topic was Family Unity.
Children, parents, grandparents, politicians and pets pacifically marched to call attention to the thousands of children who are being torn from their families due to the anti-immigrant policies of the Trump administration.
This march commemorates cofounder of La Union del Pueblo Entero (LUPE), labor rights activist, César Chávez whose dream was to build stronger, healthier communities where colonia residents use the power of civic engagement for social change.
The march culminated in the main office of LUPE with a party which included music, food and a health fair.
