Alton, Texas — La Unión del Pueblo Entero and Superior HealthPlan are launching a community hygiene closet. Sponsored by Superior and facilitated by LUPE out of our office in Alton, the hygiene closet will provide LUPE members and other community members monthly access to items such as shampoo, detergent, feminime products, combs, toothbrushes, and more.
“We are grateful to Superior for sponsoring this project to help our community,” said Kayla Montano, health organizer at LUPE. “No matter your background or zip code, we know working-class people across the Rio Grande Valley are already doing everything they can to care for their families and themselves. Projects like our hygiene closet will help families who are struggling to be able to best care for their health.”
Superior HealthPlan’s purpose is to transform the health of our community, one person at a time. LUPE is founded by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta and has more than 8,000 members across the Rio Grande Valley.
Please note that the hygiene closet is available on a referral basis and is not open to the general public. To become a LUPE member, visit our Alton office at 416 South Alton Blvd. (Suite A) or call (956)584-3636.
