January 23, 2023

Al Colegio Si Se Puede is a one-year college readiness program created to help undocumented, first-generation, and/or low income high school juniors and seniors to have a successful journey to college.

La Unión del Pueblo Entero (LUPE) is now accepting applications from high school juniors and seniors for the “Al Colegio, Si Se Puede” program. This program will cover important topics participating students will need to have a successful journey to college such as financial aid applications, college essays, scholarships, advocacy, career goals, college requirements, etc. throughout the course of the Al Colegio, Si Se Puede Program.

Carla Ocadiz, Education Equity Specialist at LUPE, said, “As a DACA recipient and first-generation student, I wish there were a program like Al Colegio Si Se Puede when I was in high school. I had to figure things out on my own. That is why the program is close to my heart. As the instructor of the program, I've learned that these students are ready to thrive in college, they just need the proper resources and help to do so.”

“Como un recipiente de DACA y un estudinate de primera generacion, desearia que hubiera un programa como Al Colegio Si Se Puede cuando yo estaba en la preparatoria. Tuve que encontrar la informacion por mi propia cuenta. Es por eso que le programa esta cerca de mi corazon. Como la instructora del programa, aprendi que los estudiantes estan listos para prosperar en la universidad, solo necesitan los recursos adecuados y la ayuda para hacerlo.”

Interested applicants can submit their information at www.lupenet.org/alcolegio. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023. The program will kick-off on February 11th and will run until June, 2023. All sessions will be held at the LUPE headquarters in San Juan located at 1601 U.S. Bus. 83, San Juan, TX 78589.
