On, Monday, May 8th 2023, LUPE will be joining ally organizations in protest against two extreme and dehumanizing bills in Texas, HB7 and HB20, that are an endangerment migrant families in the Rio Grande Valley
What: Organizations based in the Rio Grande Valley and Austin will mourn the deaths of at least 8 people who were killed by a driver in Brownsville, Texas. We send our deepest condolences to their families and wishes for a speedy and full recovery for at least 10 others who are injured. We mourn this loss of life and call for an end to policies that dehumanize immigrants, including the proposed anti-immigrant bills being heard on the Texas House floor on Tuesday.

Who: La Unión del Pueblo Entero, immigrant shelter Casa Marianella, Austin faith leaders, LatinoJustice, Texas Civil Rights Project, Human Rights Watch, and Grassroots Leadership.
Visuals: Participants protest and chant outside of the Starr County Courthouse Annex. Chosen speakers will be giving speeches and be available for interviews as posters are waved and chants are shouted against HB7 and HB20.
