Release: Hear Our Pueblo: Pro-immigration border organizations to hold press conference and rally in response to Biden visit

On Feb. 29, 2024, border community organizations will rally to send a clear message to President Biden: immigrants and asylum-seekers deserve permanent protections.

What: Pro-immigration organizations from across the Rio Grande Valley will host a morning press conference and afternoon peaceful demonstration to show support of immigrant families and asylum-seekers at the border. The event will feature speeches from community leaders and representatives from various organizations listed below.

When

Morning press conference: Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, 9 AM – 10 AM

Afternoon rally: Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, 1 PM – 3 PM

Where: 20 S Vermillion Ave, Brownsville, TX 78521 (reference point only). We will gather at the corner of Vermillion St. and Boca Chica Blvd., across the airport where President Biden will land. Both the morning and afternoon actions will be at the same location.

Who: La Unión Del Pueblo Entero (LUPE), Texas Civil Rights Project, ARISE, Las Poderosas, Angry Tías y Abuelas, The Sidewalk School, Voces Unidas, Frontera Fund, and other community organizations

Visuals: Organizations and community members will gather outside the airport and across the street from where President Biden will land. Individuals will be waving flags, holding their banners depicting imagery and slogans against anti-immigration laws and in support of immigrants and asylum-seekers.
