Officers who brutalized Jorge still employed by Sheriff’s Department

EDINBURG, TX – This Thursday marks one year since the death of Jorge Gonzalez Zuñiga and his family has received no justice. The officers who broke Jorge’s neck during his Easter weekend arrest in April of 2020 have not been charged and, according to recent records, are still employed by Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office.
In response, Jorge’s family and supporters are holding a protest at Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, July 15th, 2021 at 10 am. The protest will celebrate Jorge’s life, draw attention to his work as a farmworker, and demand the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department and Sheriff Guerra be accountable to Jorge's family and the Hidalgo County community.
