This weekend, the early days of the struggle of our founder and legendary farm worker leader Cesar Chavez will be brought to the big screen.
Cesar Chavez the film is a moving—and true—David versus Goliath story that portrays the classic battle between farm workers and one of California’s richest industries. This is the first major motion picture about an icon for Latinos in the United States. Yet, by genuinely portraying Cesar Chavez as a hero for all Americans, the movie also tells a story about our country that every American should see.
Films such as this are judged by how well they do at the box office the very first weekend they’re released. It’s critical to get as many people as possible into the movie theaters that first weekend—to make sure Cesar Chavez stays on the big screen after that weekend and expands to many more theaters throughout the country.
Most important, if this film succeeds, then more movies like it will also be made.
