Students need safe, reliable transportation to access higher ed
By LUPE, April 24, 2015

Support our partners with the Equal Voice Network. Sign the petition for greater public transportation in the Rio Grande Valley.

There is a need for safe and reliable public transportation for students and families in rural areas trying to access higher education in Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy Counties. That's why the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council is proposing the creation of the RGV College/University Transportation Program.

Show your support for reliable, safe public transportation for college students by signing the petition.

The LRGVDC is requesting $4,000,000 in state funds for the project that will result in a regional system to connect all higher education institutions in the region. The expansion of Valley Metro’s current transit system will extend services between and among campuses including South Texas College, Texas Southmost College, Texas State Technical College and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

The LRGVDC has made the request for state funding, but lawmakers need to hear from all of us to help it become a reality. Click the link below and support this initiative of the RGV Equal Voice Network by signing the petition:
