With a President-Elect who has made border militarization and mass deportations the central talking point of his administration, it is no surprise why there is widespread fear from our immigrant community in the Rio Grande Valley.
At LUPE, we have received many calls and messages asking how individuals can support undocumented immigrants. In response to that, here are five immediate ways you can help and stay engaged with our immigrant community in the Rio Grande Valley.
1. Donate to LUPE, an Immigrant Rights Organization, and your donation will be matched!
At LUPE, we have more than 7,000 members who organize with us to make the Rio Grande Valley and safe place for all. We are ready to fight back against anti-immigrant actions, just as we have for more than 13 years in our region. Donate now and your donation will be matched for up to $1,000! Donate now: https://lupenet.org/give.
2. Support local actions and protests
Many organizations who work on various issues have already been organizing marches, assemblies, and protests around the Rio Grande Valley. Look out for these actions and support by attending or reach out to the organizers to see how you can best support their work.

3. Join the Border Resistance Inauguration Day March
On Jan. 20, 2017, LUPE will host a Border Resistance march in McAllen. The march will highlight what is at stake for immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley under a Trump Presidency. Click here to RSVP to the event on Facebook.
