Dear members and supporters,
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. Our team at LUPE is so grateful for all your support this year. We wish you the happiest Holiday Season after a long, difficult year.
COVID-19 hit us very hard. Many of us are mourning the loss of friends, family members, and loved ones who we miss dearly.
This year clearly showed us how much we need accessible health care for all. We need it so desperately, and it is unjust for the government to turn away from what is clearly a mass crisis in our country.
Just as urgent is the need for reliable Internet access in rural areas, such as the colonias in the Rio Grande Valley. Students need it to be able to do homework, and without it, their education suffers. That is why we took on this campaign at La Unión del Pueblo Entero. We know how important this matter was to more than 8,000 members.
With your support, we will continue this campaign and other crucial work in 2021.
The last four years of the Trump administration, and especially 2020, have hurt our communities deeply. But with your continued support and the resiliency and strength of our members, we have stood firmly against injustice and defended our communities. In about a month, a new administration that has made many promises will take office. Now, we must stay vigilant to ensure they deliver on their promises so that no one is forced to live in fear.
This Holiday Season, we celebrate our members and their families, and we renew our commitment for a New Year to keep fighting for a border region where families remain together and call can thrive.
¡Adelante! Thank you for all you do for our members and community!
In gratitude,
Juanita Valdez-Cox
